The digital revolution is moving and growing at a rapid pace and over the past year and a half, many millions of folks have moved from printed papers and magazines to reading online papers and magazines. David Schatsky, president of JupiterKagan says, “The growth of the overall online small business market and decision makers’ increased comfort with doing business online will impact their total online spending.” In addition to the facts above, it has been our experience, this past year, that the online version of the catalog was much more effective in reaching our target audience than the print version, and it was certainly more cost-effective, plus, we can send it out and add to it on a weekly basis. It is clear to see that the digital format is quickly replacing much of the printed format throughout the publishing industry. Because of this tremendous digital phenomenon that we believe is going to speed up due to the economic situation, we have decided not to produce a printed catalog for 2009 and beyond. We are going completely digital. From now on, we are going to do four catalogs a year, instead of three. They will be produced as follows: (1) Winter edition – January, February and March; (2) Spring edition – April, May and June; (3) Summer Edition – July, August and September; and (4) Fall edition – October, November and December. Each catalog will be sent out via e-mail once a week during its season, and will include much more content than just book ads. The first catalog of the New Year which is the January-March 2009 edition will be sent out via e-mail on Monday, January 5, 2009. It will also be available permanently online at: www.BCBMCatalog.com, www.BlackChristianBookCompany.com, www.BlackChristianNews.com, and www.BlackChristianBookMarketingMagazine.com, as well as other sites. This catalog will be available in two versions: (1) Online “Flipviewer” version and (2) the PDF “Scroll” version. Since the catalog will be all online, the cost to advertise your book in the catalog will be much lower than the cost for the printed version. Also, we can design your ad for you at no extra cost.
